Recipient of the American Institute of Architects 2010 National Honor Award, Central States Honor Award, and Springfield Honor Award, this project showcases the power of thoughtful design under real-world constraints. Tasked with combining a practice gym, kitchen, cafeteria, and performing arts center within the limited budget and tight site conditions of a small rural school district, the design team delivered an exceptional, award-winning educational facility.

The multi-purpose space functions daily as a cafeteria and commons area while seamlessly transforming into a practice gym and performing arts venue for extracurricular use. By enclosing a central courtyard, the new plan unifies five existing buildings under one roof—creating a cohesive campus hub that meets diverse needs and elevates the student experience.
